H.R. Milner (HRM) is located in the Smoky River valley, north of Grande Cache, Alberta. It is listed as a gas-type asset by the AESO and has a nameplate capacity of 300 MW. This plant consists of a new 204 MW natural gas-fired turbine ("M2") from which waste heat (steam) is fed to the original ("M1") HR Milner Generating Station providing approximately 96 MW of additional low-carbon power.
HR Milner Generating Station ("M1") was originally commissioned in 1972 as a Coal/Gas dual-fuel generating unit, and Milner 2 ("M2") was comissioned in 2020. H.R. Milner is owned and operated by the Milner Power Limited Partnership (MPLP), a subsidiary of Maxim Power.
