AB Newsprint (ANC1) is a simple-cycle gas plant that is owned and operated by Alberta Newsprint Funding Corporation (ANFC). ANFC is a joint venture of The Stern Group (Whitecourt Newsprint Company Limited Partnership) and West Fraser Timber Co. This asset includes ten Caterpillar reciprocating natural gas-fired engines, each with its own generator, for a maximum capability of 63 MW.
