Battle River #5 (BR5) is located at Battle River Generating Station, a dual-fuel (natural gas or coal-fired) power plant. It is located east of Red Deer in PaintEarth County, Alberta. It is owned and operated by Heartland Generation. This asset has a maximum capability of 395 MW.
Units 1 and 2 were retired in 2000 and unit 3 in 2019. BR4, and BR5 are located at the same facility, but are listed as separate AESO assets.
