Keephills #3 (KH3) is owned and operated by TransAlta. KH3 was commissioned in 2011 and is located near Wabamun, Alberta. It was a coal power plant with advanced technologies to reduce emissions (SO2, NOx, mercury, and particulate emissions). As of January 2022 it was converted to a gas-fired steam generator. It uses a high-efficiency steam turbine with supercritical boiler technology. The AESO-listed Maximum Capability (MC) for this asset is 466 MW.
KH1, KH2 and KH3 are separate assets located at the same facility.
