Summerview (SUM1) (aka "WindCharger") was the first utility-scale battry storage project in Alberta. It uses an array of Tesla lithium-ion batteries which can store 20MWh of energy and are charged by the Summerview 2 wind turbines. Up to 10 MW of power can be dispatched to the grid.  This facility is located near Pincher Creek, and is owned by TransAlta's wholly owned subsidiary, Western Sustainable Power Corporation.
