Genesee Repower 2 (GNR2) is located at the Genesee Generating Station, west of Edmonton, Alberta. This is a gas-fired asset with a maximum capability of 411 MW. It uses a Mitsubishi M501JAC gas-fired combustion turbine and came online in May 2024.
Later in 2024 the refurbished turbine from the former coal plant GN2 will be tied-in, and will come online as a natural gas combined cycle generation asset.
The Genesee Generation Station is owned by Capital Power and also includes GNR1, GN1, GN2, and GN3.
